Leezen - Sustainable Development Goals

Leezen's Seven Sustainability Actions

Support Organic Farming
Promoting organic products and collaborating with farmers is just one aspect of Leezen's support for organic farming. We've accompanied farmers on their journey from pesticide-free to certified organic farming. We believe the most effective support comes from walking alongside them through good times and bad. To encourage more farmers to transition to organic farming, we sell organic fruits and vegetables in their transition phase and are also promoting sustainable agricultural products. Leezen's fruit and vegetable supply partners personally visit farmers' fields to visit them, understand their farming conditions, and assist with any challenges they may face. During natural disasters, we provide financial assistance to help farmers overcome losses. During peak harvests, we find ways to process produce and mobilize internal employee purchases to support organic farming and minimize losses.
Protecting Local Fruits And Vegetables
Leezen hopes Taiwan can become an organic island. We believe that cultivating organically, based on the natural environment, the land's fertility, and ecological wisdom, can protect Taiwan's pristine mountains and clear waters. Therefore, we are committed to supporting dedicated organic farmers, no matter where they are in Taiwan.
Leezen also urges manufacturers to replace imported ingredients with local ones when developing new products. Even if this increases costs, requires multiple formulation adjustments, and requires breakthroughs in processing technology and procedures, we must seize every opportunity to maximize the use of local fruits and vegetables. We strive to practice sustainability in our food supply—eating locally, eating seasonally—to increase Taiwan's food self-sufficiency rate and reduce food miles and our carbon footprint.
Promote Little Or No Additives
Since entering the agricultural product processing industry, Leezen has embarked on a "zero-additive" food revolution. We believe that using real ingredients, minimal processing, and little to no chemical additives can rediscover the peace of mind and natural flavors, bringing positive energy to our bodies and minds. In addition to resolutely eliminating eight major additive categories, including preservatives, artificial colors, and flavors, Leezen carefully selects only about one-tenth of the over 800 food additives legally declared by the government. Through continuous communication and interaction with manufacturers, we inspire our processing partners to care about and support sustainable eating. We specify ingredients, review recipes, and strive to incorporate sustainability into every detail of our raw materials, recipes, and production processes.

Encourage Low-Carb Vegetarian Diet
Sustainable eating should be built on a foundation where no life is harmed. We believe that local, organic fruits and vegetables are the most captivating source of flavor. Vegetarian meals without meat, eggs, or seafood, when carefully prepared, can be both healthy and reduce carbon emissions.
Renowned conservationist Jane Goodall said, "Every day, we have three chances to change the world." Therefore, in addition to providing sustainable ingredients, we also offer hundreds of vegetarian recipes, organize meatless experiences, connect with vegetarian restaurants, and host sustainable food festivals to encourage more people to eat more vegetables and appreciate the impact of green eating.
Protecting The Ecological Environment
Leezen firmly believes that a win-win situation for both economic development and conservation is the key to ensuring a sustainable ecosystem that benefits animals, the land, and people. Only when humans, insects, birds, frogs, and animals, and other species, can live peacefully and respectfully on this land can the Earth thrive.
In addition to organic farming practices that align with the spirit of the mountains, we actively collaborate with government agencies and private organizations such as the Forestry and Conservation Department and the Purple Butterfly Association to support green conservation projects such as the restoration of Jacanas and Purple Butterflies, encouraging the conversion of abandoned betel nut plantations to oil palm cultivation, and promoting the production of pure tea to purify upstream water sources in reservoirs. To encourage farmers to protect the land, they offer contract planting at prices above market value during the promotion period to guarantee purchases. They also connect with food factories to add value to fruits and vegetables with variable yields and sizes through processing. Their goal is to create a healthy habitat and preserve the lives of field animals.

Practice Resource Recycling
Leezen believes that cherishing all of nature's resources is the key to sustainable Earth. If we can strive to find the best use for resources starting at the source, we can achieve the ideal of a zero-waste circular economy.
Adhering to the principle of cherishing organic fruits and vegetables, Leezen proactively connects with multiple food factories for resource sharing and collaborative development. We fully utilize the skin, pulp, fiber, and juice of organic fruits and vegetables like pomelo and mulberry, achieving the benefits of a whole-fruit, whole-food circular economy.
Regarding product packaging, we initiated a micro-plastic reduction revolution in our distribution channels in 2016. In addition to no longer providing shopping bags, we are also gradually reducing the use of plastic in packaging materials for textiles, supplies, and food. We are the first to use "compostable bio bags" to package leafy vegetables and tender fruits that need to be kept fresh. At the same time, through independent recycling, we reuse them to produce compost potting soil and biomass flower pots, creating a new sustainable value of recycling and reuse.

Implementing Social Care
Only when everyone in society embraces and supports each other, and progresses together, can we build a livable, resilient, and sustainable society. To support vulnerable groups in remote areas and those with disabilities, we encourage our partners to identify opportunities in their production processes: using ingredients from specific tribes in product development, or outsourcing simple packaging work to sheltered factories.
Leezen supports sheltered factories, fair trade, and the Hualien-Taitung tribes with stable, substantial orders exceeding $10 million annually. We hope that these vulnerable people can become self-reliant through these job opportunities and feel the self-recognition of contributing to society. We also actively call on consumers to join us in doing good through the Li Ren co-branded credit card with charitable giving, occasional food subscriptions, and material donations, so that more social welfare groups with limited resources can feel the energy of warmth and love.
The mission of protecting the land has no end. Only with more kindness and support can we achieve true beauty.
